Accumulator Insurance

A promotional offer where, if one leg of an accumulator bet fails, the bettor gets their stake refunded as a free bet.

Action (Casino term)

The activity or total money wagered at a casino. Also, a dealer’s prompt to indicate it’s a player’s turn to make a move.

Action (Sports betting term)

A baseball bet placed without naming a specific pitcher. Also describes the volume of bets placed on a particular event.

Advance-Deposit Wagering (ADW)

A system where users deposit money into their betting account in advance and use those funds to place bets online.

Against the Spread (ATS)

A way to evaluate an event’s outcome by factoring in the point spread. Also refers to choosing to take points instead of betting with or against the spread.

All-In

When a player bets all their remaining chips in a single wager.

Alphabet bet

A term for a bet involving six selections, comprising 26 total wagers: one yankee (11 bets), two patents (14 bets), and one six-fold accumulator (1 bet).

Arbitrage

Exploiting differences in odds to bet on all sides of an event, ensuring a profit regardless of the outcome.

Arbitrage betting

A strategy of placing bets on every possible outcome of an event to secure a guaranteed profit.

Asian Handicap

A betting system in soccer where teams are given goal advantages or deficits (e.g., +0.5 or -1) to balance odds, reducing the chance of a push.

Beard

A person who places bets on behalf of someone else to hide the real bettor’s identity (poker term).

A tool allowing users to create multiple bets from various markets within a single event.

Bet calculator

A utility that calculates potential winnings from bets placed with a bookmaker or betting exchange.

Bet Limit

A responsible gambling feature letting players cap the maximum amount they can wager, regardless of the game or result.

Betting odds

The payout offered by a bookmaker for a specific outcome, determined by factors like likelihood, past performance, current form, and opposition.

Betting Pool

A group of bets placed by multiple players on a single event. Winnings are shared among those who bet correctly, minus a small fee taken by the platform.

Binary Betting

A type of wager where the outcome is either a win or a loss, with no middle ground.

Blinds

Mandatory bets in poker placed by players to the left of the dealer before cards are dealt, typically a small blind and big blind, to initiate the pot.
