Pp

Parimutuel betting

A betting system, often called pools, where players compete against each other rather than a bookmaker, with winnings distributed among the winners.

Parlay

Combining winnings from one bet into the next, wagering on multiple games where all selections must win for the bet to succeed.

Patent bet

A multiple bet involving three selections, consisting of seven equal bets: three singles, three doubles, and one treble.

Payline

A designated line of symbols on a slot reel that triggers a payout when a winning combination lands, ranging from three to 100 lines, either straight across reels or in patterns like vertical or zigzag.

Payoff

The amount a player receives from a winning bet.

Payout Percentage

The expected portion of each bet returned to players over time, always below 100%. For instance, a 96% payout means $0.96 returned per $1 wagered, with the casino keeping $0.04 as its edge.

Payout Ratio

The proportion of wagered money a bookmaker pays out as winnings, relative to total bets placed.

Pick 6 (Horse Racing)

A type of parimutuel bet where you must pick the winners of six consecutive races. It usually offers large payouts if no one wins, and the prize rolls over.

Selections made for placing bets.

Placepot bet

A single wager equivalent to a six-fold accumulator, typically used in racing.

Playthrough Requirement

Conditions set by an online casino for bonuses, requiring players to wager a specific amount or number of bets before withdrawing bonus-related winnings.

Pogies

The term used in Australia and New Zealand for slot machines.

Point Spread
