Margin
The gap by which one competitor outperforms another in an event.
Martingale
A betting system where, after each loss, the bettor doubles their previous stake and adds one unit (e.g., after a $2 loss, the next bet is $2 + $2 + $1 = $5).
Match Bonus
A casino promotion where the house matches a player’s deposit up to a set limit with bonus funds (e.g., a 100% match up to $100 gives $50 extra for a $50 deposit).
Matched betting
A strategy where bettors place opposing wagers to lock in a profit, typically to capitalize on free bets or bonuses offered by bookmakers.
Merged Bonus
The combination of two or more bonuses of the same type in casino games, merging their amounts and wagering requirements, with the new bonus’s wagering period applying to the combined total.
Middle
Winning both sides of a sports betting event by wagering on the underdog at one point spread and the favorite at another, securing payouts from both.
Money Line
A straightforward bet on which team or competitor will win an event, without involving a point spread.
Move the Line
Paying an extra fee to adjust a point spread by half a point or more in the bettor’s favor.
Muck
In poker, the pile of discarded or folded cards, or the act of folding by tossing cards into this pile.
Multiple bet
A single wager combining two or more individual bets, also known as a parlay or accumulator, requiring all selections to win for a payout.
